The Singles League will now kick off January 29th 2010, apologies for the delay but I have been arranging the fixtures in light of some participants being on holiday and due to the availability of courts.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!
I just like to wish all the members a very Happy New Year. Hope you all had a good break and are ready to get back to playing.

Also please could all clubs check the Results Summary found underneath the league tables here. Let the League Secretary know asap if anything is incorrect or that a result might be missing. We rely on Club's to check that their results are accurate. Finally a reminder to check the Outstanding Results below and notify the League Secretary if any matches have been re-scheduled. WANTED: OLD RACKETS / USED SHUTTLES
A number of Leicestershire coaches are currently undertaking a lot of coaching assignments. If any club has a surplus of used shuttles or any member has an old racket(s) that never get used would they kindly consider donating them to the coaching cause. I am in the process of updating the fixtures list with regards to re-arranged matches and adding details match breakdowns, this will be added over the weekend, as well as the anticipated details of the Singles League!

Today I have included the player registrations, fixtures list and the 1st of the League Secretary's report below. The 1st of the league tables will be updated later today.
I am also in the process of uploading the pictures/videos for the England vs Japan 2009 Tour match that occurred yesterday. The event also gave myself the opportunity to meet many of ther Team England team, including Nathan Robertson, Anthony Clark, Donna Kellogg and Jenny Wallwork. Thank you all those that helped organise the event, special thanks go to:

Japan ended up eventual winners, winning the series 4-1 both in Bath and Loughborough. However this is not to overshadow the showcase put on display, it was a tremendous success and I hope the first of many more to come in the future. This is exactly what our sport needs to raise it's profile.

LBA Singles Ladder - Provisional quotas filled
Following on from my request for members to register their interest for a singles ladder, I am pleased to say we have provisionally filled our quota for the numbers required to go ahead to the next stage. Thank you for all that put their names forward. I will be holding a meeting in the next couple of weeks to organise the format of the ladder. Members are still encouraged to register their interest here. I will then put all registrations from today on a standby list incase we have spaces available.

LBA Singles Ladder - Please register your interest by filling out the form!
At out recent ACM, a request was put forward that we start a singles league or a singles ladder. At this stage we propose to start with a ladder. The starting point of this is to find out how many people are interested. So if you are interested, please complete the form here. We urgently require as many people to register their interest so we can move forward to organise it. New Gallery Section - Updated Key Dates - Updated Club Venue Details
There is a new Gallery section now, I have included some photos from the recent Presentation Evening of the trophy winners. I have also updated the Key Dates ready for the 2009/10 season, be sure to update your diaries. In addition, the Clubs page now has full venue details including postcode and a link to the map. This will make it easier for people whom are unsure how to get to a certain venue.

Club Contact Details - Club Websites
Following on from the AGM, please could all clubs check the contact details held here and inform myself of any changes via lbawebmaster@lbabadminton.org at the earliest. I am starting to prepare the site for next season and also for the new handbook and in order to get the information accurate, I need help from all members to make sure we have the correct contact details for your club. Many thanks in advance.
Also I ask any clubs that don't have a club website to set one up. I strongly recommend having a web presence since it will only help you to attract new members and raise your clubs profile. If anyone has any questions or needs assistance setting up a website, please contact myself and I will be more the happy to help or offer advice.
Finally I will be updating the website over the coming weeks, if anyone spots any errors or pages that are not working, please let myself know. Thank you for your patience whilst I make the improvements and apologies for inconvenience caused.

Leicestershire Veterans over 55s finished 3rd in the National Finals!
The Leicestershire Veterans over 55s finished a great season with a 3rd place at the National finals in Stoke last week. A big congratulations from myself to all the team, a very good effort. The full report can be found here.

Also I have updated the 'final' league tables and they are accurate according to the scoresheets received up to 17th April 2009 (not matches played). Matches played include half a dozen or so 0-0 results recorded, where either the match wasn't played or the League Secretary hasn't received any confirmation at all. If you have any queries on these tables please let Greg Howes have your reply by no later than next Wednesday 22nd April 2009 and he will look into the matter.

LBA Statistics to date - 900+ visitors per week, 10,000+ hits per week!!!
Since the launch of the new site at the start of the season, I have been tracking the popularity of the LBA site and how frequently the various pages are visited. I am pleased to share that the site is constantly attracting on average 10,000+ individual hits per week. In terms of individual visitors, the site is attracting over 900+ unique visitors (sessions).
The interesting statistic is not only is the website being viewed mostly in the UK as expected, but it is also attracting visitors worldwide! This all helps to raise the profile of Leicestershire Badminton.

Leicestershire Over 55 Veterans are Midlands Winners!
I have some great news to share. the Leicestershire Veterans over 55s are the Midland Winners! They beat Berkshire 7-5 and now go through to the National finals in April. A big congratulations from myself to all the team: Edward, Carole, Carol, Cathy Buckler, Audrey Preston, Richard, Ray, David Wilkins and Pete Goadby! It is excellent news! The season is drawing to a close, a few divisions still hang in the balance, good luck to all those whom have games left to play!

A short update, first of all a correction to a previously mentioned date, the 2009 Presentation Evening is on Friday 8th May 2009 at the Quality Hotel, Loughborough. More details regarding the tickets to follow in the coming weeks.

I have been busy once again adding new sections to the site as well as the usual updates. There is a new Juniors Section with more details about junior clubs and coaching. A Veterans Section has been added with the last report from Edward Hayes, let's hope the team were successful in the playoffs yesterday! Finally I have also added more details on Adult Coaching.

I have updated the league tables and they are accurate according to the scoresheets received up to 3rd March 2009 (not matches played). In the Downloads section I have updated the 'League Match Totals' spreadsheet. The fixtures and player registrations have also been updated. I have noticed that the number of overdue results seems to have increased quite a lot lately, please make sure your results are sent in on time and if you have any issues, you resolve them with Greg Howes, the League Secretary at the earliest opportunity.
May I ask all clubs to check their contact details on the 'Clubs' section and if any telephone numbers or contact details have changed to let myself know so I can make the changes accordingly. Thanks.
Finally I will be adding new sections regarding the Leicestershire Juniors and Veterans in the next few days... watch this space!

Fresh after coming back from holiday in New York (which incidentally I didn't want to leave!) is the anticipated update. Apologies for the delay but as with most things, good things come to those that wait. Hence this is massive update! As always I have updated the league tables and they are accurate according to the scoresheets received up to 27th February 2009 (not matches played). Below on the same page are the individual results summaries for the respected divisions.
A NEW feature now which I have included in the Downloads section is the 'League Match Totals' spreadsheet. This is a useful document which will help players keep track of the number of matches they have played to date in the Divisions. This is a good way to track against Rule 6C of the league rules. I am sure most of you will find this useful. This document will be updated frequently.
The Leicestershire Open concluded on Saturday and hence I have already updated the page with the full list of winners and match results. Congratulations to all the winners, it proved to be another successful event.
The World Class Badminton Exhibition event is taking place on Sunday 26th April 2009, more details found here.

Following on from a suggestion in our recent LBA committee meeting I have added a new 'Results Summary' section below the league tables. It is for those that would like to see how the individual matches concluded for their division, depicting the home and away rubbers. This is a very good indication on seeing how your competitors are doing in your division.
I plan to further work enhance the level of stats shown and hope to get the individual player stats up soon.

The Carlton Leicestershire Open Badminton Championships 2009

Today I have updated the League Tables as they stand according to the scoresheets received up to 14th November 2008. They can be found here. Please note they may not coincide with matches played upto this date as results need to be received and processed by the League Secretary before it is uploaded to the site.
I have also added a complete list of Player registrations to date, found here. If you have registered in the last few weeks, you may not appear on the list, I will be updating this list throughout the season so it should pick up new registrations over time. If you spot any errors please contact the League Secretary or myself.
You will notice a new feature this year, the League Secretary's Report. Each week, the weeks results will be posted up here along with the League Secretary's report, a summary will also be on the mainpage. This will be ideal for those clubs wishing to keep track of individual matches with respects to Rubbers won and lost. I hope you find this new section worthwhile!
